A few weeks ago I walked through Weidert Group’s front door for my first day on the job. I’d barely hung up my graduation gown when I got the call with the thrilling news that I was to be their Visual Storytelling Intern.

You may be wondering how a college graduate from Virginia, with a background in radio, ended up at a marketing group in eastern Wisconsin – I ask that question myself occasionally. To answer that, I’ll rewind to my university days.

My higher education took place in the mountains of Virginia at Liberty University. I arrived as a bright-eyed Politics & Policy freshman with an affinity for media. Before I knew it, my minor in media slowly crept into the foreground and I was leaving law in the dust as I ran full force into broadcast production and business classes. I quickly fell in love with media design, creative marketing, and my job at the college radio station. I could often be found in dark editing studios for hours at a time, engrossed in film or audio editing. This passion was confirmed two weeks before graduation when the university sent me to the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) annual conference in Las Vegas. One hundred thousand video and audio nerds, just like myself, descended on the city for six glorious days of camera demonstrations, video editing seminars, and more. In the weeks that followed I completed my degree, graduated from Liberty, and began my search for the next step in my fledgling career – and that is when I came across Weidert Group.

An acquaintance in Wisconsin had heard about the position and sent the application my way. After spending just a few minutes on their website, I knew Weidert Group was the place for me and submitted my resume. My interview confirmed my suspicions: the people of Weidert Group are incredibly talented and gracious. Their agency is innovative and energizing, a perfect place to grow. Most of all, their eagerness for excellence is palpable as they collaborate and create.

Now I’ll bet you are wondering what on earth a Visual Storytelling Intern does all day. I figured it would be easier to just show you:
