10 Online Video Trends to Implement in 2019

Unscreen_infographicLet’s go back in time 10 years. Today’s mobile revolution was in its early stages. Smartphones had cameras, but they weren’t very good (and their internet connections were not fast). Social media had not yet become a ubiquitous part of every waking moment. SVOD, AVOD and TVOD services were still just a glimmer in a Silicon Valley programmer’s eye.

Simply put, the sheer volume of video that we now consume on the internet each day was unthinkable.

These days, video is everywhere. It’s totally upended the way we communicate with one another in the best possible way. B2C marketers, often seen as more “emotional” or “intimate,” have influenced complex B2B industries, which are now using video to create a sense of engagement and urgency that most people have never seen before.

Video itself is also changing — just as technology and the world does around it. Live streaming services have become incredibly popular, especially in the B2B space, but that isn’t just limited to the straightforward concept of “on demand” programming. B2B marketers are doing everything from hosting online discussions to webinars to giving live, “backstage” tours of their offices, and they’re seeing an overwhelmingly positive response to it.

It’s gotten to the point where, according to one survey, 80% of people say that they would rather watch live video from a brand than to read a blog — even if those two pieces of content contain exactly the same information.

Social media has always been a powerful tool for B2B marketers, yet current video trends are changing the way people think about that, too. Another survey revealed that 82% of people say that they’d prefer to experience a live video from a brand instead of reading a social post.

As video itself changes and pushes forward, you need to be proactive about keeping up with it or, rest assured, you’re going to find yourself left behind.

Our “10 Online Video Trends” infographic illustrates just how far we’ve come in a decade, and it sheds light on where video is going, both B2B and B2C, giving your brand an opportunity to get there before anybody else can.
